Our purpose is to research, educate and promote our native bees. We are a 501C Non-profit.
How it works: The program is based on using as it’s national model, the first pollinator garden planted at Joann O’Connell school in Erie, Pa. This will be duplicated simultaneously in Sherman, NY and Lordstown, OH. These three schools utilizing their students will be educated so as to gain a full understanding of the importance the pollinators have in this world and what they can do to promote and protect them.
We will then ask the students in these schools to forward what they have learned to other schools across the nation. We will then try to coordinate the students in a naional effort to reach out to the world in a single day, to share what they have learned, (the goal is to touch 100,000,000 people in a single day) and drive them to the kickstart program where the targeted goal people will then be able to participate in a program to set up the first national pollinator migratory route in the United States. The kickstart program will allow then average individual to be educated up to date all that we know and show them how they can actually get involved.
WE ARE HOPING THAT THROUGH WORD OF MOUTH AND PEOPLE SEEING THE BEE POLES IT WILL GET MORE COMPANIES, SCHOOLS, AND PEOPLE INVOLVED. IF JUST THE SCHOOLS IN THE AREA GOT THEIR STUDENTS INVOLVED IN THE PROGRAM AND TAUGHT THEM MORE ABOUT THE NATIVE BEES WE COULD INCREASE BEE POLES BY ABOUT 30 IN ERIE COUNTY ALONE.
OUR PRINCIPLE CORPORATE SPONSORS ARE WASTE MANAGEMENT, PRESQUE ISLE DOWNS, THE ERIE ZOO, AND MERCYHURST UNIVERSITY. THEY ARE OUR FUNDING SOURCES FOR THE PROJECT. THE BOY SCOUTS FRENCH CREEK COUNCIL WILL BE OUR LABOR FORCE PLACING BEE POLES IN ONE MILE DISTANCES FROM THE PENNSYVANIA GAME COMMISSION SITE #109 STOPPING AT THE PRINCIPLE CORPORATE SPONSOR SITES AND ON TO THE SHORES OF LAKE ERIE.
ALSO THE PENNSYLVANIA GAME COMMISSION, PENNSYLVANIA FISH COMMISSION, EPA, DPW, AND ROBISON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENTS WILL BE THE PRINCIPLE CONTROLLING BODY THAT IS THE UPKEEP AND REPAIR OF THE NATIVE BEE POLES.
THIS IS AN EFFORT TO HIGHLIGHT THE PLAN TO BRING TOGETHER THE PRINCIPLE CORPORATE SPONSORS AND PLAN A MIGRATORY NATIVE BEE POLE ROUTE.
